DIRTY PAVOR

Dirty Pavor are an avant-garde/alternative rock two-piece born from a mutual love of musical experimentation and honest, expressive performance.

 Band members Paul Gumma and Gary Munday - both from Winchester - met while working together in late 2009. After experimenting with several line-ups and instruments, they decided to strip things back to just guitar and drums, which seemed to compliment the music they were creating.

The music itself ranges from puts emphasis on experimentation without sacrificing melody. Paul’s floating vocals and fuzz-driven guitar are met by Gary’s solid, punchy, offbeat drums, and for those moments when a touch more madness is required, Gary takes over the vocals to provide shrieks and yelps. Harmonica, organ and miscellaneous percussion provide the final touches.

Further inspiration for Dirty Pavor comes from unsettling imagery and surreal subject matter in all forms of art, the name of the band itself inspired by their individual experiences of lucid dreams and night terrors.

The aim of the band is to create something exciting and unpretentious and to have fun doing it. Gary and Paul try to make their shows as visually interesting as possible, with recorded images, electrical appliances, canvases and audience participation, all the time asking themselves the question: “What would we like to see?”

Their debut two-track demo ‘The X Sessions’ was recorded on a shoestring budget at a local independent recording studio in Spring 2010.
